Journey to the Exotic Cairns and Green Island

Sunday 21st of August 2011
Cairns—Green Island
I got up early to get the 08:30 morning “Adventure Boat” to Green Island for doing some snorkelling on the famous reef. It was the windiest, coldest and cloudiest day so far: unluckily. The seawater has 23°, which is OK for a short time, but not warm enough for a long snorkel dive. My mask got foggy again and again, even when I spit into it: crap. No clear vision to see coral and fish and turtles.
I walked around the island twice, once on the beach and one time on the boardwalk. I did eat chips, more than enough, unfriendly service, let's say: no service, the only place in Australia, where the sales staff was unfriendly.
I walked back to the pier to take the earliest boat back to Cairns, I had to wait 45 minutes.
The ride back was fun: strong wind, high short waves and the catamaran, cross the waves: up and down we went.
In Cairns, a walk along the coastal boardwalk, Sunday, children playing, parents out, nice atmosphere.
Some sort of parade was going on later.
Dinner was a walk in the dark to Hungry Jacks, nothing special.
