Broken Hill walking
01st of June 2011 Friday
Broken Hill
I was up late took my time, drove into town, left the car outside of a shop. Walked to the Arboretum and made photographs. Just photographing all day.
I had lunch in the fancy café on top of the huge slag heap in the middle of town. Nice views over the city and the surrounding hills.
Had I nap, being real tired, do not why, anyway had a rest, heading back to the place I stay at. Got into talking with Keith about the iron wood and the fire wood. Laura called, I picked her up and we drove out of town to the sculpture park for the sunset. Some people out there. Me camera's battery pack empty: no shots! Back in town, a short rest then out for a gallery event from the charity event.
Broken Hill – Menindee

Broken Hill - Menindee
This morning I was up early, because one other couch surfer was announced early 07:00 am., but the train was delayed, because of some broken rail. So when Laura eventually popped in it was quite late. We had a quick breakfast, did some emails and off we where on the road to Menindee, was some lakes on the Murray river 110 km south-west. Seen Emus on the way out besides the road. Some birds of pray and a lot of water in the lakes.
Ancient Sheep sheerer station and some food in the pup.
Evening I was out with the guys from Sydney I had meet yesterday in Silverton. Nice chat, seen some locations, Darlington Hotel, Mario's Palace with it's wall paintings.
Dromana
Tuesday 07th of June
Dromana on Mornington Peninsula
Early in the morning, was went to the medical centre in Rosebud to get Andrew x-rayed, to ensure nothing is broken. Everything fine, I drove him up to his place, nice little house, where he is about to move to Singapore. I could use the internet and did some research for long period car rental and some new hosts on me way to Adelaide. Answered emails ...
I drove up to Arthur's Seat and had a quick walk through the Sea Gardens, which is a very nice garden or park on top of the mountain overlooking the whole Philly Bay. The weather was really windy all day, damn cold with hail and gusts of rain. Freezing my head off. Nice vegetarian night meal, a little of Australians Top Talents on TV, don't remember which channel, then to bed, had a good warm sleep. Very calm and no traffic noise what so ever.
The whole house is damn cold and not heated at all, because its not really finished jet. They are about to set the chimney up for a steel stove.
Category description
Sunset or sundown is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon in the west as a result of Earth’s rotation.
The time of sunset is defined in astronomy as the moment the trailing edge of the Sun’s disk disappears below the horizon in the west. The ray path of light from the setting Sun is highly distorted near the horizon because of atmospheric refraction, making sunset appear to occur when the Sun’s disk is already about one diameter below the horizon. Sunset is distinct from dusk, which is the moment at which darkness falls, which occurs when the Sun is approximately eighteen degrees below the horizon. The period between sunset and dusk is called twilight.
Locations north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle experience no sunset or sunrise at least one day of the year, when the polar day or the polar night persist continuously for 24 hours.
Sunset creates unique atmospheric conditions such as the often intense orange and red colors of the Sun and the…
